Secondwind’s Ozlo Cannonball

“Ozlo”

DOB: 4/14/09

Sire: Chlout’s Asia of Velikaya

Dam: Chlout’s Zoee of Velikaya

Position: Team/ Leader in Training

Status: Intact Male * will be neutered summer ’10

Likes: Wrestling, hedgie toy

Dislikes: People carrying skis.

Ozlo is a wildman.  He is turning into a handsome boy. His first season in harness as a puppy was really promising.  He even lead a few tour runs.  He is a hard worker, and an easy dog to have in the team. At home he is my wrestling buddy, but he is reserved with strangers.  At 5 months he figured out how to scale the 6 foot puppy pen. I’m hoping he puts those kangaroo legs to some good use in the future, on the trail and, if time allows, I would like to train him for rally or agility.

Lara-Ke’s Earl of Secondwind

“Earl”

DOB: 6/3/03

Sire: Alaskan’s Kitmuk of Anadyr

Dam: Lara-ke’s Teklanika

Position: Retired Team Dog

Status: Intact Male

Likes: keeping track of everything

Dislikes: Strangers at the kennel

Earl is the kennel watch dog. If something upsets the natural balance of Earl’s world, he has a big ferocious bark to let me know. He does not like strangers coming unaccompanied into the kennel, and he whines and cries if house dogs are playing on the other side of the fence, or anything goes on with one of “his” girls. He is reserved but polite with people we meet when out doing tours, etc. and he is a big mush with me. He is a big, strong, ox of a dog.  Earl has been retired from harness early, due to a ligament injury at age 7.

Anju’s After Midnight

“Burt”

DOB: 12/29/04

Sire:  Kelim’s Nitro of Anju

Dam: Barking Brooks Nushka of Anju

Position: Leader

Status: intact female

Likes: Being Tough

Dislikes: Poor Ashes.

Accomplishments: 2008 Mushing Boot Camp

Burtie is a dog I would call one of my main leaders. The best way to describe her is tough. She is not a dog anyone messes with in the yard. She is the only dog that can live kenneled with pushy Mani and not turn into a nervous wreck. She is sweet and cuddly with people, and gets along with her team mates, but she isn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves when someone is out of line or a job needs doin’. She is one of my hardest, and most reliable workers.

Anju’s Black Ice

Blackie”

DOB: 1/15/04

Sire: Kelim’s Nitro of Anju

Dam: Barking Brooks Nushka of Anju

Position: Team

Status: Neutered male

Likes: jumping fences

Dislikes: that his pen has a cover

Blackie was the last of the Anju dogs to join my kennel as a three year old. He came to me as an experienced fence jumper and sheep murderer, but not so experienced sled dog. Blackie fit right in with his brothers who were already on on the team, and I usually run him in wheel. He is non confrontational with the other dogs, even those who boss him, like Eleu and his running partner, Earl. Another loud mouth brother.

Anju’s Jack Frost

Frosty”

DOB: 1/15/04

Sire: Kelim’s Nitro of Anju

Dam:  Barking Brooks Nushka of Anju

Position: Team

Status: neutered male

Likes: Eleu ( who knows why)

Dislikes: coming when called

Frosty is the most aloof dog in the kennel. He pretty much does his own thing, but is sweet enough to humor me and act like he likes it when I pet him. He is short bodied and has a bit of a funny waddling gait. He works hard up hills, but has a hard time at faster paces. He is pretty trouble free, but like the rest of his litter, has a really annoying scream.

Anju’s Arctic Erni

“Erni”

DOB: 1/15/04

Sire: Kelim’s Nitro of Anju

Dam: Barking Brook’s Nushka of Anju

Position: Leader/ Team Dog

Status: Intact male

Likes: ear rubs, kong toys

Dislikes: waiting to run!

Accomplishments: 2008 Mushing Boot Camp

I picked Erni at four weeks of age. He is definitely one of my favorite boys. Erni loves toys and loves to run. He is a loud dog with a most annoying voice. He is always happy to see me and will come running to give me a hug, usually slamming into me at full speed. Erni has been leading since his second season in harness. He is a strong and hardworking dog, but sometimes he lacks confidence up front and needs a lot of positive encouragement in lead.

Roo’s Manitoba Northrunner

Mani”

DOB: 7/ 1/ 2003

Sire: First Chance

Dam: Sergei’s Zelda Jakovna

Position: Team Dog

Status: Neutered male

Likes: attention!

Dislikes: dogs who don’t think he is god (or can’t fake it)

Accomplishments: Rally Novice, Class Demo Dog,

Mani is another smaller dog with a lot of attitude. He is a hard worker in harness and and enthusiastic obedience dog. He loves to work. He can be a bit hard headed sometimes, especially about gee over. Mani gets along with his kennel mates, but can be short tempered and bossy, especially with the younger dogs. Mani absolutely loves attention and is usually demanding pets and talking at anyone within reach.
