Secondwind’s Salute

“Lute”

DOB: 5/26/2006

Sire: Larake’s Bristol Bay Ember

Dam: Chlout’s Digger of Nome

Position: Leader

Status: Intact Female

Likes: Chilly is her best bud

Dislikes: Puppies

Salute is a quirky girl. She is happy to see me, bouncing around and smiling with her ears down. She seems to have a real drive to do the right thing, and she keeps on trying.  She has become quite the little leader, one of my best.  On hills she is often jumping into her harness, trying to get her team mates going faster, faster!  I have hopes of her contributing offspring to the kennel in the future.

Four Wind’s Mato

“Mato”

DOB: 4/10/2000

Sire: Kodiak’s Nebraska 2nd

Dam: Four Winds Faradela

Position: Team

Status: Neutered male

Likes: Salmon and Chicken

Dislikes: nail trimming

Accomplishments: 2002 Craftsbury 30,

Mato was my first experienced sled dog, and he came to me as a three year old. He is just an easy dog. He gets along with everyone, he deals with new situations well, he works consistantly. He is well behaved on the line and I like to run young dogs next to him. He has been very valuable, as he has been a solid member of my evolving team, just going about his job without causing trouble, which is exactly what I’ve needed! Mato has basic obedience training and works well on a leash.

Aniscar’s Coyote Koveda

DOB: July 4, 2009

Sire: Aniscar’s Organic Coal

Dam: Chlout’s Blossom of Velikaya

Position: Team, Leader in training

Status: Spayed Female

Likes: Picking on her younger siblings

Dislikes: Bananas

Critter is pretty much perfect 🙂  The one thing we need to work on is going BONKERS at hook up.  That’s a training goal for 2011 winter!  I also think she is going to be one heck of a leader, this girl has tons of drive to get down the trail.

Chlout’s Blossom of Velikaya

Born: June 12, 2007

Dam: Chlout’s Quick of Velikaya

Sire: Chlout’s Streak of Velikaya

Gender: Intact Female

Coat: Tan/ White

Position: Leader

Blossom came to me as a two year old.  She is one of my most consistent, hard working dogs.  She picked up leading and her commands quickly, and her confidence level seems to keep growing.  I love her very sweet, happy personality.  She is just an easy, enjoyable dog to have in the kennel and on the team.  I don’t usually play the favorites game, but I would have to say she is one of them!

Lara-Ke’s Katmai Ashes

“Ashes”

DOB: 5/27/1998

Sire: Alaskan’s Mageik of Anadyr

Dam: Blackwater’s Cassiar of Larake

Position: Leader (retired)

Status: spayed female

Likes: fresh straw, brushing

Dislikes: getting her ears cleaned

Accomplishments: In her prior home Ash started Iditarod as a 2 year old but was dropped with a sore wrist. I know that she also ran the Jr. Yukon Quest. Ashes thinks obedience is stupid.

Ashes came to me at 5 years. She is co owned with Rob Farley. Ashes was a leader for me and produced one litter for Rob, which is where Osha came from.  She helped me train a bunch of rowdy inexperienced 2 year olds to be sled dogs, and leaders. I hope in breeding on the Larake line that I end up with more dogs like Ashes in my kennel. Ashes is a sweet girl, who has no problems with letting me know with a disgusted look if something is not up to her standards, or if I have insulted her in some way.

Kimavik’s My Girl Veda RN, CGC, Sch BH

“Veda”

DOB: 10/9/2001

Position: Leader

Status: spayed female

Likes: hot dogs!

Dislikes: being dirty or getting her hair messed up.

Accomplishments: RN, CGC, Schutzhund BH, Green Mountain Iron Dog 2005, 2006, UVM Learning & Behavior class guest 2007, Mushing Boot camp 2008, White Mountain Agility Instructor Camp 2006.

Veda is not my fastest or most consistent worker, but is one of my most trusted. Her nickname is “princess,” and that pretty much sums her up. She runs lead, she is an excellent (though mischievous) obedience dog, she has agility training. She trained with a schutzund club and achieved her BH among all the tough working line GSDs.

Veda is the dog that opened my eyes up to obedience training, competition and the challenges and advantages of working with siberians,  how versatile this breed really is, and how crazy people think you are for bringing one to an obedience trial!

In 2007 Veda was diagnosed with a immune disorder which causes her nose to lose pigment and peel, though that seems to be the extent of the effects on her so far.

Northrunner’s Schumacher

“Schu”

DOB: 1/19/2005

Sire: North Wapiti’s Mr. Snuffleupagus

Dam: Sergei’s Zelda Jakovna

Position: Team dog, some lead

Status: intact male

Likes: Food! Slamming the teeter

Dislikes: stopping on the trail

Accomplishments: Beginner Agility Classes, Breed Handling Classes, 2008 Mushing Boot Camp

Schu is always happy. Whatever he is up to he has a smile on his face. It seems like he never grew up, and still acts like he’s 6 months old. He’s bouncy and in your face, looking for fun. He is a very hard worker, though it took him a few years to mature enough to focus on running. He is the dog on the team that is always harness banging and yipping to go whenever we stop.
